4a. For Lithuanian posts: choose suitable categories (this will allow us to keep the right structure in our news’ section) (orange circle in the image below).
Important: do not create new categories.
4b. For English posts: first save the draft & then choose the newly generated (English) categories (do not create new ones, though).
5. Fill in the Yoast SEO section:
a) add the focus keyword (see good example below);
b) edit & complete the preview (how the post will show up in search engines); c) take a look at SEO analysis (red arrow in the image below).

Good SEO example (focus keyword in this post = jaunimo naujienos):

6. The SEO analysis will tell you what to improve (green bubbles = good)

7. Add tags and a featured image (it will show up as a cover image of the post) (see the image uploading requirements below)
Important: the image needs to compressed to web quality (good tool: https://imagecompressor.com) and its size reduced to 1200 pixels width (see below). Big & heavy images slow the web page & lowers its score on search engines (= not good).

8. SEO requirement: Add alternative text to image (this should be a very short description of your image for voice reading of your web page (i.e. for blind people)). Ideally, it should include your Focus Keyword.
8.1. IF YOU ARE FEELING LIKE A GOOD SAMARITIAN: fix the title & the caption too (so that it reflects what’s in the photo) (it matters for SEO somewhat too)

9. TAGS (yellow circle below) & INTERNAL LINKS (red circle below): what the hell is the difference?
Tags: topics of your post, this helps the reader, who for example uses a search function. A topic of the post could be: “climate”, “erasmus”, “Lithuania” – something wide.
Internal links on the other hand should be a lot more narrow. Because: the page will look for these tag words in another post and will try to put a link to the current post. For example: if you use the tag “co2 in events” and there is a similar phrase in another post, it will automatically become a link to your new blog post.
Why they should be narrow? Because if the internal link is wide (e.g. “youth”), there will be lots of irrelevant links to it. That’s not cool for the readers and SEO robots alike.
Why do internal links help: for SEO reasons. A good post needs to have other posts linking to it (like a centre of spider web 🕸️ – Google robots love that)

That’s it folks! You can publish your post and will automatically appear in our news’ section of that language (that’s why it’s important to choose the right language).
